Wymondham Chess Club: Announces Leadership Changes (2024)

Wymondham — The Wymondham Chess Club held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on June 14, 2024, during which significant leadership changes were formally announced. After eight years of dedicated service as Chairman, Bodo Rissmann has decided to step down from his role. However, he will continue to contribute to the club by participating in competitive play, a tradition he has upheld for an impressive 40 years.


New Chairman: Eric Bradley

Stepping into the chairman’s position is Eric Bradley, the former Club Secretary. Bradley’s leadership during the challenging period of the COVID-19 pandemic was widely recognised, and his experience within the club makes him well-suited for this role. Members are optimistic about the fresh perspective he will bring to the position.

Farewell to John Doughty

John Doughty, who served as the Club Treasurer, has also decided to step down. His loyal service over the past year has been invaluable to the club’s financial stability. Doughty’s contributions will be remembered fondly, and the club wishes him well in his future endeavors. Notably, John will continue to play competitively, adding to the club’s competitive spirit.

Constitutional Amendment: Honorary Members

During the AGM, the club members unanimously voted in favour of amending the constitution. This change allows for honorary members, recognising individuals who have made significant contributions to the club. As a result, both Bodo Rissmann and John Doughty have been appointed as Honorary President and Vice President, respectively.The Wymondham Chess Club looks forward to a new chapter under Eric Bradley’s leadership and continues to thrive as a vibrant community of chess players.
